This week while on vacation I realized I have a serious addiction. And it’s bad. I’m completely obsessed with lip products – you know, lip balm, ChapStick, lip gloss, lip tint, lip protectant with sunscreen…. Not so much the lipstick – nice for special occasions, but I am completely in love with anything that has a little yummy flavor and makes my lips feel soft and smooth. Major bonus points if it has SPF to keep my lips from getting that awful burnt taste when you’re unlucky enough to get them sunburned.
Just for kicks, I am going to dump my purse out and name every lip product I’ve got currently inside. Please note this is not even 1/10 of the total number of lip products I own. Yes, I know, I have a problem. But I am sure there are others like me! I just can’t help myself when I run into a good deal or see a flavor I know I can’t live without…
Well, here goes…
Blistex Fruit Smoothies Berry Explosion with SPF 15 – love this, it is one of my all-time favorites and I will buy a whole 3-pack just for this flavor. Try CVS, or Amazon for multiple sets if you are obsessed like me.
LipSmackers Strawberry Kiwi – no glitter this time (my earlier versions of this product had sparkles), but the flavor and scent still remind me of carefree college days. This flavor combo is one you can’t miss. I found a duo of strawberry kiwi at Five Below – it’s well worth the two bucks I spent! Sadly, I couldn’t easily find it online, but there is a multi-pack for the holidays at Amazon.
Softlips Sugar Plum Berry with SPF 20 – this is a great one, but it may be a special edition. I enjoy the berry flavor, as you can probably see, but this is a good one for the beach. Just don’t keep it in your pocket too long – I’ve had the Softlips plastic crack or break apart when it gets too warm.
LipSmacker Original Skittles Lime Flavor – This was in a 3-pack of Skittles flavors with strawberry and lemon… don’t ask me what happened to the other two – MIA. This flavor is refreshing and fun, perfect for summer.
Crazy Rumors Fresh Squeezed Pink Grapefruit Juice Lip Balm – This used to be with a Lime flavor by the same brand, again MIA, but I do enjoy both of these. They actually come in a multi-pack of four yummy citrus flavors. Cruelty free and vegan, with certified organic ingredients like Jojoba oil, extra virgin olive oil, Shea butter, Vitamin E, etc. Plus the taste is great!
Blistex Fruit Smoothies Triple Tropical with SPF 15 – This is part of that 3-pack I mentioned… this is probably my second favorite flavor, but I’m not too picky. This one reminds me of an orange-colored tropical smoothie. It looks like it has pineapple and some kinds of melon or something but it’s hard to say. I always feel like it is mango or papaya when I apply it, but I guess one of these days I should try to figure it out. The taste is good enough so I really don’t question it…
Blistex Fruit Smoothies Melon Medley with SPF 15 – WHAT???! I HAVE THREE OF THESE IN MY PURSE?!? One has the new label so I know it is from the 3-pack I just bought. Who knows where the other two came from. In my defense, this is my least favorite of the three, just because I’m not a huge melon fan. Thus why I have THREE of them – not by choice, folks, simply avoiding it. Also in my defense, we just got back from vacation, so I am sure I have more chapsticks in my purse than usual….
Blistex Fruit Smoothies Orange Cream with SPF 15 – This rounds out the bonus pack of Blistex Fruit Smoothies. I really like these as you can see. This one is sometimes my second favorite in the bonus 4-pack. When we were on vacation, we got this orange cream soda pop that was like a creamsicle, so I think that made me like this flavor even more. Pretty yummy for summer!
Wow, and there is still another fistful to go… oh boy.
Alba Passion Fruit Nectar Lip Balm Hawaiian – This is one of my favorite finds FOR ONLY A DOLLAR! I got it at Five Below in Pottstown. Those clever marketers put a glass bowl of these guys on their counter with the registers and of course for only a dollar I had to buy all three flavors. I already knew I LOVED Alba Coconut Cream lip balm, so I bought this passion fruit one and the pineapple one to round things out for a perfect tropical selection.
Alba Coconut Cream Lip Balm Hawaiian – I have probably owned this flavor about six or seven times in my life, and I have paid everything from $1 to $4 for one stick of it. Worth. Every. Cent.
Alba Pineapple Quench Lip Balm Hawaiian – O.M.G. It smells so heavenly, I thought the coconut one was my favorite buy I don’t know… maybe I will just apply them both for a perfect tropical blend. Kind of like a pina colada? Seriously, this flavor is out of this world. I highly recommend it.
LipSmackers Sugared Plum – this is clearly in my bag from a day when I couldn’t find any of my favorites. I am pretty sure it is from a holiday variety pack I got on clearance… nothing wrong with it, just nothing really sending me over the moon…
Philosophy Raspberry Sorbet Lip Shine – I think it’s pretty hard to go wrong with Philosophy. And in my book, it’s nearly impossible to go wrong with raspberry. This product also has glittery, sparkly sheen. Philosophy Raspberry Sorbet Lip Shine is not a typical lip balm though – it is one of those tubes of lip product that you apply and then smack your lips together, avoiding your hair on a windy day when it will easily glue itself to your shining, iridescent lips. But, still so worth it even if that happens. This gloss has a great flavor and even at $10 or so I think it is still a bargain. You can read a full review of it here…
Murad Energizing Pomegranate Lip Protector SPF 15 – Similar in size, shape, style, and color to the above raspberry lip gloss, this one offers a fresh and fruity taste with a touch of sun block. I really do enjoy this tasty pomegranate lip product – it’s just hard to keep up with so many great flavors around. This one is a classy lip goodie with a great healthy spin – antioxidants AND sun protection. Can’t go wrong.
Giorgio Armani Shine Lipstick Rouge Brilliant 49 MF168 – So lipstick, like I said, I don’t mess around. I’m not a huge fan of wearing it all the time, but when I do, I want it to look good. And you really have to admit, anything by Armani is about as professional as you can get. I am glad I stumbled upon this great lip color by Armani. The color is just right for my skin tone and it looks good no matter what I wear, no matter what the season. But you really didn’t come here to read about lipstick, did you?
Well, love it or hate it, that is the full recap of every last lip product in my purse. I guess I have to admit I probably applied at least five of them while writing this review – you know, just to ensure everything I write is, um, accurate. Just to disclose, a few of these I have received for the purpose of review (Softlips, Murad, & Crazy Rumors). The others I have bought as part of an ongoing love obsession with lip balms. So now call me crazy or commiserate with me – at least now you know about a dozen lip gloss products that are well worth your dollar or $10.
